The Challenge

Research has found that senior citizen prescription claims generate twice as many safety warnings as those for younger patients. Although there appears to be great concern over the problem, there has never been a concrete, broad-based, collaborative effort to address it. Until now. The formation of SOS Rx presents an extraordinary opportunity — and, in fact, a great need — for this alliance of concerned partners to search for answers and create actionable plans to positively affect many consumers and the system as a whole.

The Solution:

The purpose of the SOS Rx coalition is to make outpatient medication use safer. More than 80 organizations are active in the coalition and committed to work together to improve outpatient medication safety for all consumers and patients, with an initial focus on senior citizens.
