Senior Outpatient Safety on Prescription
Drugs (SOS Rx)
SOS
Rx is a coalition of more than 80 consumer and patient safety
organizations, groups representing physicians, pharmacists, nurse
practitioners, caregivers, and employers, and government. The
coalition’s purpose is to make the outpatient use of medications safer,
especially for senior citizens, and to produce changes in both consumer
behavior and the healthcare system as a whole.

What information is collected?
- On
behalf of the SOS Rx coalition, NCL collects the names, affiliations,
addresses, phone, and fax numbers, email, and Web site addresses of
its members.
- On
behalf of the SOS Rx coalition, NCL collects names, affiliations, and
contact information of reporters for its media lists.
- When
people attend SOS Rx conferences, forums, or meetings, their names,
affiliations, addresses, phone and fax numbers, and email addresses
are collected.
- Names
and affiliations are collected to make nametags for people who attend
events.
- When
people visit www.sosrx.org, NCL
can obtain information from its Internet Service Provider about what
countries they came from, what Web sites they visited immediately
before, the most popular SOS Rx Web pages visited, and the total
number of visitors.
- Web
visitors’ names, email addresses, and other personally identifiable
information are not collected unless they fill out membership forms or
communicate with SOS Rx via email.
How is personally identifying
information used?
- On
behalf of the SOS Rx coalition, NCL maintains a contact directory for
its use to coordinate coalition members.
- On
behalf of the SOS Rx coalition, NCL posts member organizations on the
Web site, but not their individual names or other identifying
information.
- Packets
for conferences and forums include names and contact information for
participants. These lists are treated as public information and are
available to anyone who requests them.
- SOS
Rx members may be contacted about other activities of the National
Consumers League.
- On
behalf of the SOS Rx coalition, NCL will obtain explicit permission
from individuals who have contacted it, online or offline, before
providing their information to the media.
